Netflix has confirmed that a sequel to the ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ animation feature is in the works, with Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans returning to write and direct the second adventure of the Huntrix Girl Group singers.
Speaking after the news, Kang said, “I feel immense pride as a Korean filmmaker that the audience wants more from this Korean story and our Korean characters. There’s so much more to this world we have built, and I’m excited to show you. This is only the beginning.”
“These characters are like family to us; their world has become our second home. We’re excited to write their next chapter, challenge them and watch them evolve – and continue pushing the boundaries of how music, animation and story can come together,” added Appelhans.
Released on Netflix on June 20, 2025, ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ became an instant global hit, and is in the race for the Oscars for the Best Animation, and Best Original Song score ‘Golden’ for the film’s soundtrack written by Ejae and Mark Sonnenblick, and sung by Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami.
The animation had won the Golden Globes in both categories, and recently swept the Annie Awards and topped the animation contenders at the VES Awards. It has also been recognized by numerous critics’ circles, including the Critics’ Choice Awards.

Ebo Taylor, the iconic Ghanaian guitarist and composer whose work helped define the highlife genre, has passed away at the age of 90.
His family announced the news on Sunday via his Instagram page, although the cause of death was not revealed.
Taylor died at the Saltpond Hospital, according to a statement from the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).
His death came just one day after he launched the inaugural Ebo Taylor Music Festival, and exactly one month after celebrating his 90th birthday.
“The world has lost a giant. A colossus of African music,” the post reads.
“Ebo Taylor passed away yesterday; a day after the launch of Ebo Taylor Music Festival and exactly a month after his 90th birthday, leaving behind an unmatched artistry legacy. @ebo.taylor your light will never fade.”
Born Deroy Taylor in Cape Coast on January 6, 1936, he rose to prominence in the late 1950s and 1960s, an era when highlife was Ghana’s dominant musical form. Playing with leading bands like the Stargazers and the Broadway Dance Band, he gained a reputation for his distinctive guitar style and intricate arrangements.
Taylor’s six-decade career was marked by prolific innovation. He masterfully fused Ghanaian rhythms with jazz, funk, soul, and early Afrobeat, influencing generations of musicians both within Africa and beyond.
A pivotal moment came in the 1960s when he took his Black Star Highlife Band to London, leading to a historic collaboration with the legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.
He later led renowned groups such as the Ghana Black Star Band and the Uhuru Dance Band in Ghana, and collaborated with greats like the Apagya Show Band, CK Mann, and Pat Thomas throughout the 1970s.
While a celebrated figure in West Africa for decades, Taylor gained broader international recognition in 2010 with the release of ‘Love and Death’ on Strut Records.
This was followed by acclaimed albums including ‘Appia Kwa Bridge’ (2012) and ‘Yen Ara’ (2018). His vast catalogue of influential songs includes ‘Heaven’, ‘Atwer Abroba’, ‘Life Stories’, ‘Ayesama’, ‘Saana’, and ‘You Need Love’.

The celebrated American Christian worship leader, singer, and songwriter, Ron Kenoly, has passed away at the age of 81.
The news was confirmed by Bruno Miranda, Kenoly’s longtime music director, in a statement shared on the singer’s official Instagram page. The statement revealed that Kenoly died on February 3, 2026, though the cause of death was not disclosed.
Miranda, who worked closely with Kenoly for more than 20 years, described him as not only a mentor but also a spiritual father, emphasizing Kenoly’s dedication to his calling.
“This morning, Feb. 3, 2026, we said goodbye to Dr. Ron Kenoly,” the statement read.
“For over 20 years, I had the honor of walking alongside him in ministry around the world—not just as his music director, but as a son, a student, and a witness to a life marked by faithfulness. Doc was very intentional about one thing: he was never an artist, never an entertainer. He was a worship leader. And he took all the time necessary to explain what that truly meant.”
Miranda elaborated on Kenoly’s philosophy of worship, highlighting that he viewed his role as guiding people into sincere reverence for God.
“A worship leader’s calling is not to perform songs, but to lead people into true worship in the presence of a King; the King of Kings, Jesus Christ. He taught me that a worship leader is not merely a song leader, but a servant who connects with people whose hearts are open to worship, guiding them to ‘enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise’ (Psalm 100:4, ESV). Worship, he would say, is always rooted in gratitude for what Christ has done for us, and never in anticipation of what we want Him to do.
“Off the stage, Doc carried the same integrity, humility, and reverence for God that the world saw under the lights. He taught me that worship begins long before the first note is played, shaped by obedience, character, and a deep fear of the Lord.
“Today we grieve deeply but not without hope. The worship he lived is now the worship he beholds.
“Until we meet again, my pastor, my mentor, my friend.”
Born on December 6, 1944, in Coffeyville, Kansas, Kenoly moved to Hollywood, California, after high school and later served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1968. During his military service, he performed with a cover band, the Mellow Fellows, which toured various military bases.
After his service, Kenoly returned to Los Angeles to pursue a full-time music ministry, eventually becoming one of the most influential figures in contemporary Christian worship music.
His breakthrough came in 1992 with the release of “Lift Him Up”, which became the fastest-selling worship album of its time.
MTV shut down five of its music channels in the United Kingdom.
The television channel officially stopped broadcasting on its MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV and MTV Live channels in the country on Wednesday, Dec. 31, according to multiple reports, after reports of the move first surfaced in October. 24-hour music channels in other countries are also said to be off-air.
BBC journalist Jono Read captured MTV Music’s final moments in an X post on Wednesday. The station ended its run with The Buggles’ 1979 single “Video Killed the Radio Star” – the first video ever to air on MTV – followed by a sign-off animation. At the bottom, a news ticker read: “MTV Music is now closed. Continue watching over at MTV.”

U.S. singer Beyonce is now a billionaire, Forbes magazine said, becoming only the fifth musician to achieve such a milestone.
The 44-year-old entertainer joins a select club that includes her husband, rapper Jay-Z, as well as Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen and Rihanna, according to the publication, known for its rankings of the world’s richest people.
Beyonce reached the landmark after several very lucrative years.
In 2023, her Renaissance World Tour grossed nearly $600 million.

South African singer Tyla has become the African artist with the highest number of monthly listeners on Spotify, overtaking Nigerian stars Burna Boy and Tems.
The achievement makes the 22-year-old singer the most-followed African artiste on the streaming platform, showing how quickly she has risen and gained international attention.
Born Tyla Laura Seethal, the Johannesburg-born singer broke into the global spotlight in 2023 with her hit single Water. The song became a viral success across social media platforms, especially TikTok, and helped introduce Tyla to a worldwide audience.
Water went on to chart in several countries and earned Tyla worldwide recognition.
The success of the track marked a turning point in her career, positioning her as one of Africa’s most visible music exports.

Music streaming service Spotify said Monday it had disabled accounts from a piracy activist hacker group that claimed to have “backed up” millions of Spotify’s music files and metadata.
The group Anna’s Archives said in a blog post it had backed up 86 million Spotify tracks and the metadata for 256 million tracks — a process known as “scraping” — in order to start an open “preservation archive” for music.
Anna’s Archives said the 86 million music files represented more than 99.6 percent of Spotify “listens”, while the metadata copies represented 99.9 percent of all tracks on Spotify.
The breach, which has no impact on Spotify users, means that in theory anyone could use the information to build their own free music archive, though in practice they would be swiftly pursued by rights holders.
“Spotify has identified and disabled the nefarious user accounts that engaged in unlawful scraping,” the company said in a statement sent to AFP.
“We’ve implemented new safeguards for these types of anti-copyright attacks and are actively monitoring for suspicious behaviour,” it said.
“Since day one, we have stood with the artist community against piracy, and we are actively working with our industry partners to protect creators and defend their rights.” (Guardian)
Kelly Osbourne says she has lost her “best friend” following the death of her father Ozzy Osbourne.
The heavy metal pioneer died on Tuesday at the age of 76.
He died just a few weeks after performing with Black Sabbath at a big farewell show in his hometown of Birmingham.
The concert was particularly poignant for his daughter Kelly, who got engaged backstage to her long-time partner Sid Wilson, from the band Slipknot.
Many family members were at Villa Park to support the so-called Prince of Darkness for what turned out to be his final performance.
Famous musicians such as Ronnie Wood from the Rolling Stones, Metallica and Guns N’ Roses also took to the stage.
His band Black Sabbath are credited with inventing heavy metal.
In 2003, the father and daughter released a cover of the Black Sabbath song Changes, which reached number one on the UK singles chart.
In her first comments since his death, Kelly Osbourne posted the opening lyrics from the song on Instagram with a broken heart emoji: “I feel unhappy I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had.”
The father-daughter duo were known for having a close relationship.
They appeared together on the MTV reality TV show The Osbournes which ran from 2002-2005. It portrayed the star as the well-meaning, frequently befuddled patriarch of an unruly household.
More recently they reprised their family podcast alongside mother Sharon and brother Jack.
On Tuesday, the Osbourne family released a statement that said: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”
