{"id":779,"date":"2025-08-15T08:15:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T08:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tona.today\/?p=779"},"modified":"2025-08-14T22:29:37","modified_gmt":"2025-08-14T22:29:37","slug":"six-arrested-over-murder-in-lagos-cult-clash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tona.today\/?p=779","title":{"rendered":"Six arrested over murder in Lagos cult clash"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six suspected cultists in connection with the killing of one Kamoru aka Keeper during a clash in the Ebute Meta area of the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement sent to&nbsp;<em>PUNCH Metro<\/em>&nbsp;on Wednesday, stated that the suspects were apprehended on July 17, 2025, during an intelligence-led operation by detectives attached to the command\u2019s Anti-Kidnapping Unit in the Surulere area of the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rema - Baby (Is it a Crime) [Official Video]\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MsZhYgo9MoA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Hundeyin, those arrested include Raphael Ashim, 30; Wasiu Kareem, 33; Sadiq Olabisi, 40; Olamilekan Oluwatosin, 27; Olalekan Olugbodi, 54; and Ibrahim Oladimeji, 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He explained that the suspects were allegedly involved in a series of cult clashes in the community and surrounding areas, which also led to the death of the 30-year-old Kamoru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOn July 17, 2025, detectives attached to the command\u2019s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Surulere, embarked on an intelligence-led operation to the Ebute Meta area of Lagos and arrested one Raphael Ashim, \u2018m\u2019, aged 30; Wasiu Kareem, \u2018m\u2019, aged 33; Sadiq Olabisi, \u2018m\u2019, aged 40; Olamilekan Oluwatosin, \u2018m\u2019, aged 27; Olalekan Olugbodi, \u2018m\u2019, aged 54, and Ibrahim Oladimeji, \u2018m\u2019, aged 22, all of whom were involved in a cult clash in Ebute Meta and its environs, which led to the gruesome murder of one Kamoru alias \u201cKeeper\u201d, \u2018m\u2019, aged 30.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The police spokesperson also noted that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and recover their operational weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe suspects have been charged in court and are awaiting trial,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A yet-to-be ascertained number of suspected cultists have been arrested in various parts of Lagos State following a major crackdown by the Lagos State Police Command on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The arrests came barely 24 hours after the command issued a warning against cult groups ahead of the annual \u201c7\/7 Cultism Day,\u201d known for rival clashes and reprisals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sources who spoke to our correspondent on Wednesday said raids were carried out in areas such as Ikorodu, Idimu, Mushin, Bariga, and Iyana Iba, where the suspected cult members had gathered to mark the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sources added that police recovered some exhibits from them during the raid. <a href=\"https:\/\/punchng.com\/six-arrested-over-murder-in-lagos-cult-clash\/\">(Punch)<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six suspected cultists in connection with the killing of one Kamoru aka Keeper during a clash in the Ebute Meta area of the state.
