{"id":416,"date":"2025-07-10T16:29:30","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T16:29:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tona.today\/?p=416"},"modified":"2025-07-10T16:29:34","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T16:29:34","slug":"jamb-rectifies-futa-graduates-status-after-fake-admission-claim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tona.today\/?p=416","title":{"rendered":"JAMB rectifies FUTA graduate\u2019s status after fake admission claim"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has reactivated the portal of Jamiu Basola, a Civil Engineering graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, after he was previously flagged for possessing a fake admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PUNCH Online had reported that Basola, who graduated in 2024 with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.41, said he sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in 2017 and was admitted into FUTA in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Olamide, Wizkid - Kai! (Official Video)\" width=\"980\" height=\"735\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7tChMHOrQJM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>However, an issue surfaced during his final clearance when the school\u2019s Student Affairs Division informed him that his mobilisation for the National Youth Service Corps had been rejected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was advised to verify my details on the JAMB matriculation list, which indicated fake admission,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Basola added that after several failed attempts to access his JAMB portal, he wrote letters to various officials at FUTA, including the registrar, vice-chancellor, and chairman of the admissions committee, urging them to intervene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a telephone interview with our correspondent on Monday, Basola exclusively confirmed that his previously locked JAMB portal had been unlocked and his name had now appeared on the matriculation list, a requirement for NYSC mobilisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are still in the process because I have not been mobilised for NYSC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy portal was locked. But now, I am able to log in; I can now reprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThough I had some of the documents before, I was able to reprint my documents again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy name was not on the matriculation list, but now it has changed,\u201d Basola said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This development was also confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by the National Association of Nigerian Students\u2019 National Public Relations Officer, Adeyemi Ajasa, he described the resolution of the case as a significant victory for justice and student welfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis positive development is a direct result of the decisive intervention by the NANS national leadership, led by the astute President, Comrade Olushola Oladoja,\u201d Ajasa said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He confirmed that Basola\u2019s JAMB portal has now been restored and his name added to the official matriculation list, following sustained pressure from the national leadership and NANS South-West Zone D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJamiu\u2019s academic dedication was regrettably challenged by a \u2018fake admission\u2019 flag after years of diligent study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHis fight was indeed our fight, and his victory is a triumph for every Nigerian student,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ajasa also acknowledged the role played by the FUTA Civil Engineering Department in writing to JAMB to clarify Basola\u2019s admission status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis resolution underscores the power of collective action and NANS\u2019s unwavering commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of Nigerian students,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NANS said it would continue to monitor the case to ensure Basola\u2019s inclusion in the next NYSC mobilisation batch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe reaffirm our commitment to holding institutions accountable and ensuring that such avoidable predicaments do not recur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe lives and academic pursuits of Nigerian students are not bargaining chips,\u201d Ajasa stated. <a href=\"https:\/\/punchng.com\/just-in-jamb-rectifies-futa-graduates-status-after-fake-admission-claim\/\">(Punch)<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has reactivated the portal of Jamiu Basola, a Civil Engineering graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, after he was previously flagged for possessing a fake admission.
