{"id":366,"date":"2025-07-07T14:01:06","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T14:01:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tona.today\/?p=366"},"modified":"2025-07-07T14:01:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-07T14:01:08","slug":"sanwo-olu-unveils-two-major-roads-in-alimosho-agege","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tona.today\/?p=366","title":{"rendered":"Sanwo-Olu unveils two major roads in Alimosho, Agege"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, inaugurated two major road projects in Alimosho and Agege.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The governor inaugurated the newly rehabilitated and dualised 3.86-kilometre Abaranje Road in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rema - AZAMAN\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Z2L51xr45As?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He also inaugurated the 1.8-kilometre Dopemu Road in Agege Local Government Area, which was renamed as \u2018Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road\u2019 in his honour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking during the inauguration, Sanwo-Olu stated that the Abaranje project, which commenced 20 months ago, was designed to eliminate perennial flooding, enhance connectivity, and reduce travel time for commuters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe reconstruction of this famous Abaranje Road is a testament to our determination to bring relief to residents and road users on this axis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis project is more than a road expansion and reconstruction; it is a life-changing experience for our citizens living on this road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe means of livelihoods lost due to the deplorable condition of the road have now been restored,\u201d Sanwo-Olu said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The governor noted that the dualised road, now fitted with reinforced concrete interlocking pavement, drainage systems, pedestrian walkways, and solar-powered streetlights, marks a milestone in the state\u2019s transport infrastructure upgrade under his administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAlimosho has reaped a lot of democracy dividends from our government. We have handed over strategic roads in this council to combat heavy traffic congestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is another critical intervention that is supporting our efforts towards tackling congestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAside from fostering connectivity, this infrastructure will galvanise the local economy and improve quality of life,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was stated that before its rehabilitation, Abaranje Road was narrow, riddled with failed sections, and prone to erosion, conditions that made it a nightmare for road users and residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The governor was joined at the commissioning by his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat; members of the state executive council; and community leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sanwo-Olu also inspected the Ikotun Roundabout, a gridlock point in Alimosho, where he proposed the construction of a flyover to ease traffic congestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIkotun Roundabout is a critical intersection we are working on, and it is part of the road projects we want to take on in Alimosho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere are traffic issues and street trading issues that are resulting in congestion in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe issues are complex, but it is for us to move in and solve the problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have done extensive assessment of how best to proceed on the project,\u201d the governor said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He assured residents that more projects would be delivered in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to assure you that this is not going to be the last stop in Alimosho Projects commissioning will be a continuous exercise for us in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs a government, we are committed to ensuring that every part of the state is not left untouched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to emphasise that our vision is to leave behind a world-class infrastructure that will last for decades,\u201d Sanwo-Olu said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, said the roads would reduce travel time, enhance mobility, and improve safety for all road users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe successful construction of these roads demonstrates this administration\u2019s commitment to bridging infrastructure gaps and improving the lives of Lagosians,\u201d Daramola said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also speaking, the Onikotun of Ikotun, Oba Azeez Gbadabiu Asiwaju, expressed gratitude to the governor for responding to the community\u2019s call for development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis road will open up access to more communities and bring progress to the people,\u201d the monarch said. <a href=\"https:\/\/punchng.com\/sanwo-olu-unveils-two-major-roads-in-alimosho-agege\/\">(Punch)<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, inaugurated two major road projects in Alimosho and Agege.
