{"id":2738,"date":"2026-02-20T08:25:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-20T08:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tona.today\/?p=2738"},"modified":"2026-02-20T01:39:55","modified_gmt":"2026-02-20T01:39:55","slug":"troops-kill-five-kidnappers-rescue-woman-in-plateau-raid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tona.today\/?p=2738","title":{"rendered":"Troops kill five kidnappers, rescue woman in Plateau raid"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have eliminated five suspected kidnappers and rescued an abducted woman during a coordinated raid on a criminal hideout in Angwan Boka, Sopp District of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The operation, carried out last Tuesday evening, followed an actionable intelligence obtained from two suspects arrested a day earlier on February 16. The suspects, identified as members of a kidnapping syndicate terrorising the area, reportedly provided details that led the troops to the gang\u2019s hideout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Yemi Alade - Tomorrow (Official Music Video)\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/G4u2yMsPdG8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the troops stormed the location and immediately came under fire from the kidnappers. A fierce gun battle ensued, during which four of the suspects were neutralised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a dramatic turn during the firefight, the two suspects, earlier arrested, attempted to overpower the soldiers and escape custody, but were subdued and neutralised as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recovered items from the scene included three mobile phones, N17,600 in cash, and substances suspected to be illicit drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The abducted victim, identified as Hauwa Suleiman, was found unharmed.
