His studios created some of the world\u2019s best-selling video games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Tems - Love Me JeJe (Official Video)\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Y_NTooezadU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the roadway, struck a concrete barrier and became fully engulfed,\u201d the California Highway Patrol said in a statement, without identifying the two victims in the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CHP added that both the driver and a passenger, who was ejected from the vehicle, succumbed to their injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zampella was best known for co-creating the &#8220;Call of Duty&#8221;&nbsp;franchise and founding Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind &#8220;Titanfall&#8221;, &#8220;Apex Legends&#8221;&nbsp;and the &#8220;Star Wars Jedi&#8221;&nbsp;games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After starting out in the 1990s as a designer on shooter games, he co-founded Infinity Ward in 2002 and helped launch&nbsp;<em>Call of Duty<\/em>&nbsp;in 2003. Activision later acquired the studio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He left Activision under contentious circumstances and established Respawn in 2010, which Electronic Arts acquired in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At EA, he eventually took charge of revitalising the &#8220;Battlefield&#8221;&nbsp;franchise, cementing his reputation as one of the most influential figures in modern first-person shooter games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is an unimaginable loss, and our hearts are with Vince\u2019s family, his loved ones and all those touched by his work,\u201d Electronic Arts said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cVince\u2019s influence on the video game industry was profound and far-reaching,\u201d the company added, saying that \u201chis work helped shape modern interactive entertainment\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A statement by Respawn, posted on the &#8220;Battlefield&#8221;&nbsp;X account, praised Zampella \u201cfor how he showed up every day, trusting his teams, encouraging bold ideas and believing in &#8220;Battlefield&#8221;&nbsp;and the people building it\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zampella \u201cchampioned what he believed was right for the people behind those studios and our players because it mattered\u201d. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/culture\/20251223-call-of-duty-creator-vince-zampella-dies\">(France24)<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vince Zampella, the acclaimed co-creator of the\u00a0video gaming\u00a0juggernaut &#8220;Call of Duty&#8221;, has died in a\u00a0car crash, gaming giant Electronic Arts confirmed on Monday.
