{"id":1267,"date":"2025-09-30T11:15:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T11:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tona.today\/?p=1267"},"modified":"2025-09-29T23:32:29","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T23:32:29","slug":"musks-x-to-appeal-indian-court-ruling-on-secretive-content-removal-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tona.today\/?p=1267","title":{"rendered":"Musk\u2019s X to appeal Indian court ruling on Secretive Content removal system"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Social media platform X said on Monday it plans to appeal an Indian court order that would allow over two million police officers nationwide to issue arbitrary takedown requests via a secretive online portal called the Sahyog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe will appeal this order to defend free expression,\u201d X said in a post on the platform, in its first statement since the High Court of Karnataka ruled last week that there was no legal merit to the company\u2019s legal challenge to quash India\u2019s content removal mechanisms, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Burna Boy - Higher [Official Music Video]\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eKzmRnetw-c?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Sahyog enables officers to order content removal based solely on allegations of \u201cillegality,\u201d without judicial review or due process for the speakers, and threatens platforms with criminal liability for non-compliance,\u201d X said on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>X has locked horns with New Delhi in the past, equating the government\u2019s mechanisms with censorship.
